Tara is an experienced family law Barrister. Following successful completion of her pupillage in Sussex Chambers in 2008 she practised at the Independent Bar until 2013 and then further as In House Counsel in private practice. Tara is authorised to conduct litigation in addition to representation at Court, with a particular emphasis on public and private law children matters.
Tara has significant experience, expertise and interest in representing children through their Children’s Guardians during complex disputes concerning (but not limited to) issues of neglect, abuse and non-accidental injury. Tara undertakes all of her own advocacy including fully contested interim and final hearings. She continues to build a strong specialist practice in this particular field including appearances at the High Court in relation to questions of non-hague jurisdictional disputes and child abduction. Additionally, Tara has regularly acted on behalf of children through 16.4 Children Guardian appointments during intractable “live with and spend time with” (previously Residence and Contact) disputes during private law proceedings.
Tara accepts instructions in respect of Special Guardianship Orders and has often represented Grandparents either during private or public law proceedings in this regard.
In private law, Tara has considerable experience in applications for Child Arrangement, Specific Issue and Prohibited Step Orders.
Tara is based in our Eastbourne office.
